If your special somebody is out of the house for a while, or a major occasion is coming up, then why not surprise them with some unexpected house improvements? Many couples have a whole list of things they would love to do to their home, so their birthday or an anniversary is a great excuse.
We can deliver to all addresses in the neighborhood of Brooklyn in Baltimore, Maryland, delivering the ideal waste management solutions needed to keep your project on track.
-
Paint A Whole Room
The easiest way to freshen up a room is by repainting it. No matter which room you are focused on or which colors you want to use, you can always use an upcoming milestone as an excuse to move some furniture and start painting up the walls.
Not only is this cheap, but it completely transforms the look and feel of a room, making it an inexpensive and noticeable gift to give.
-
Organize the Kitchen
Your kitchen is probably the messiest part of the house, at least in the cupboards. You might know where everything is, but the clutter can make it difficult to keep track of individual items of food that you buy, which can lead to food waste and confusion.
Consider trying to re-stack your shelves and cupboards in a way that makes sense. Organizing everything can make using the kitchen much easier for both of you.
-
Set up Craft Spaces
If your spouse has a hobby that they really enjoy – from sewing to model kit building – consider making them a dedicated craft space. This could be a small section of an existing room or a complete overhaul of a spare room that you never use.
Not only will they appreciate the effort that you put in, but it can give them a way to relax if they have had a hard year and a lot of work.
-
Sort Out the Trash
While you can always take out the trash normally, there are often better ways to hide the stinky trash bins around your house. Try looking into replacement cans that might hide the smell or some other way to keep your trash separate from the rest of the room.
This can be even more important if your partner is very particular about mess and even more so for germaphobes. A small change can go a long way.
-
Build a Kitchen Island
A kitchen island can be a very useful thing to include in a large kitchen, especially if you are not using the space for anything. While you should float the idea with them first – just in case they had other plans for the space – it can be a nice project to give them.
Kitchen islands benefit the whole household, but if your partner enjoys cooking or baking in their free time, they will appreciate the extra work surface even more.
-
Clear Out Rooms
Many people have a garage or spare room that is completely full of boxed, unwanted items. Consider clearing these out for your partner’s benefit, especially if you both agree that everything in that space needs to be given away or thrown out.
For larger jobs, do not hesitate to rent a dumpster to make the process easier – a dumpster rental is much more effective than trying to fit everything in your car.
-
Improve a Bathroom
Like it or not, everybody uses their bathroom at least once per day. Making even some small improvements to it, like changing around some wall tiles or getting a new mirror, can mean a lot. Larger changes, like a completely new set of appliances, are not out of the question either.
You could even go a step further and completely overhaul the entire bathroom. This might be a good idea if all of the appliances in there are outdated and need to be replaced anyway.
-
Build More Shelves
Shelves are never a bad thing. The more you have, the easier it is to display things that are important to you, so setting up a few more can’t hurt. Consider putting some more in spaces that are cluttered or have a lot of storage requirements, like a garage or kitchen.
You could also extend or improve existing shelves if your current ones are not large enough for everything you need to store there.
-
Improve Your Porch
If you are lucky enough to have a porch (either a covered indoor porch or a completely outdoor porch), consider making some improvements that give it a nicer atmosphere or make it more comfortable. If you have not been using it enough, then this might be a great solution.
This could also be a nice option to go with other gifts, especially for major events like your anniversary or your partner’s birthday. Redecorating and improving an area like a porch can definitely have romantic undertones if you handle it in the right way.

Do Something They Have Asked For
This might sound obvious, but if you are stuck for ideas, see what your partner might want. Look at what stresses them, bring up the house in conversation to see what they say, and find a solution that they will love.
Everybody is different, and your partner may want something highly specific or unique. The more you know, the easier it becomes to surprise them at the right time, even if that means doing small things like changing how the seating in your living room is arranged.
It is a good idea to wait until the have forgotten that they mentioned it to you, just to get the maximum surprise value out of your gift. If your partner does not see it coming, then the shock is much sweeter.
